On Saturday 13 July 13.00-18.00 at The Watersplash, Jersey Music Association’s island-wide under-18s Battle of the Bands competition is back for its second year – this time with almost double the number of bands!
Lead organiser, Jess Donoghue, established the event in 2023 to provide a platform for young bands to aspire towards and gain recognition. Those shortlisted receive a ‘Youth Band Starter Kit’, including free photography, videography, and rehearsal space. Since winning last year, prog-rock metal band ‘jims house’ have performed at Weekender’s ‘Made In Jersey Stage’, The Blue Note, and Chambers.
Jersey’s live music fans can support their local scene by attending this free family-friendly afternoon of talented young bands including KILROY, Aardvark, TAB, Midnight Fusion, Clueless, Nenja, Heartbeatz, 4K, The Salute, Pretty In Pink, and Jeans on the Floor.

Following the competition, this year the Jersey Music Association has teamed up with Rat City Promo to continue BOTB into the evening with an under-18s afterparty (ages 14-18), 19.00-23.00. The BOTB team are securing a safe space for young people to rock out – its more than just a competition, it’s a youth movement!
Young people with a taste for live music are invited to join Acid-Jazz/ Funk band, Dodgy Jammers, as they warm up for indie-rockers INTERMISSION, and Guernsey pop-punk band BLOOMFIELD.
Tickets are £5.00, available online and on-the-door, and include unlimited soft drinks: https://www.islandtickethut.com/event/under-18s-battle-of-the-bands-afterparty/.
With special thanks to this year’s supporters Island Music, Music Managed, Lab-6, Madhatter, Youth Arts Jersey and Creative Island Partnership for enabling BOTB to grow.
