Marking a union of love should be something unique and special and a civil ceremony ensures this; the creation of the most appropriate and meaningful ceremony for you whether it be a legal wedding, legal civil partnership or a wedding celebration (a non legal ceremony after you are legally married), in a venue of your choice.
As well as being an authorised civil celebrant, legally able to marry you, I’m also an experienced civil celebrant with a NOCN Level 3 Diploma in Celebrancy: Naming & Couples (RQF). My ceremonies centre around a personalised script; the story of how you met with the opportunity to create your own personal vows and ceremony wording in a style to suit you and what you want for your day.
Every couple is different with ceremony choice influenced by personality and style, cost, family beliefs or cultural traditions. As well as poetry, readings and guest contributions, you can also include spiritual or symbolic elements with special meaning; lighting candles, releasing balloons, or doves, blowing bubbles, handfasting (where a couple’s hands are tied together to symbolise spiritual and physical unity) or pouring sand or water (symbolising the coming together of two people or two families into one new family), for example. If you want to incorporate a naming ceremony into your wedding when young children are involved, there is scope for this too.
If you’re seeking something more nature-based and Pagan-like, I’m also qualified to conduct spiritual civil ceremonies incorporating the earth’s elements within a handfasting or hoop and wand ceremony as well as traditional ‘jumping the broom’ and ‘cake and mead’ rituals.
