This beautiful photogenic golden sandy bay is situated on Jersey's south coast and is both safe for swimming and snorkelling. It also has many rock pools for you to explore and therefore great for young families.

There is a long walk down to the beach via some relatively steep steps which ensures that this beach becomes less crowded during the summer months, but also because of this it is not suitable for those with mobility issues. High granite cliffs surrounding the beach give shelter from the winds and due to its southerly location the beach provides a suntrap for those happy to bask in the sun.

Just off the beach there is a small island on which stands a circular tower, this is home to “Philippe Janvrin`s Tomb” which dates back to the 1720`s. Philippe Janvrin was a local sea captain who upon his return from his travels was found to be carrying the plague upon his ship and therefore was refused permission to dock by the authorities. He died on his ship soon after and due to his body not being allowed to be brought ashore he was buried in a tomb on this island. Access to the island is possible, but be aware of the incoming tide so as not to get stranded!

There is a large free car park at the top of the cliff, which is shared by the nearby Portelet Inn which serves both lunch and evening meals.
