What is your favourite beach or place in Jersey & why?
My favourite beach in Jersey is Quaisne Bay. It is so open and peaceful, but you feel tucked away at the same time. You can walk through to St. Brelades beach when the tide is not high or walk over the top on the walkway and you will come to a bench with an amazing view out to sea. You can then proceed to walk down on to the promenade and your there. It really is a little walk worth taking and great for photos.
Quaisne and St Brelade’s beach have an area of rock which is perfect for sitting out of the breeze or for a simple pic-nic or BBQ.
Once in St. Brelade you can enjoy the many quaint cafes and amazing restaurants or walk across to visit the pretty little fisherman’s Chapel which contains history and beauty
Where is your favourite place to stay in Jersey or where would you like to stay if you had the opportunity?
I have two favourite places to stay. One is La Haule Manor. I have a favourite room there, number 11. The view is so lovely which looks out on to La Haule bay.
It is very relaxing, peaceful, and has everything you need. For your evening meal the hotel has a car which chauffeurs you to its sister hotel which takes me on to my second favourite place which is La Place Hotel.
This is slightly more country than La Haule Manor but just a short drive up La Haule hill, turn right at the top, drive along a few yards and your there.
La Place Hotel has the most beautiful comfortable lounge area with a live crackling fire in the winter which you will not want to leave. And a very quaint outside courtyard with very comfortable seating where you can dine or just have drinks in the summer months.
It also has a swimming pool and a great bar area.
Both La Haule and La Place have beautiful self-catering apartments/cottages, you will really feel like you have popped to your other holiday home.
What event in the Jersey calendar do you frequent, or do you have a particular favourite entertainment venue?
I usually like to attend the Battle of Britain Air display at the Jersey Aero Club.
I love to enjoy this event with my very close friends there and they are knowledgeable of all the aircraft. They are always happy to discuss any area of aviation and you can also book a flight for a trip around Jersey to really enjoy the beautiful Island from a different perspective. If you feel really adventurous you can fly over to France with one of the highly experienced instructors and take some amazing pictures.
Is there a favourite place that you go for either a sporting or leisure activity?
I do Salsa dancing and Buchatta. It is great fun, you never stop learning and perfecting this dancing, it is very sociable and there are great dancers and wonderful teachers.
These events are held at Chambers and Rojo’s night clubs.
Where is your favourite place to dine and why?
My favourite place to dine is the Crab Shack, St. Brelades bay on the promenade.
It is casual, and the food is great. Mostly the view will captivate you and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. It really is a must to visit. I had my birthday party here in the summer and it was great fun
For afternoon tea it must be the Somerville hotel in St Aubin. The views are stunning inside and out, but especially in the summer months you can sit up on the terrace and look over the whole bay and the food is lovely.
For special times I like the Atlantic hotel. The food is amazing, and it offers breath-taking views over St. Ouen’s bay, so you get a different view of Jersey altogether.
It backs on to the golf course if you fancy keeping your golf going while in Jersey.
Do you have a favourite venue where you like to go and socialise?
One if my favorite venues to socialize and meet up with friends is Blush. It is centrally located in the middle of the main King Street and is a good place to visit for coffee or food which is very nice.
Is there a place where you just like to go to relax and chill out?
The Grand hotel. I go there often to do paperwork as do other people and they do great coffee. It is very comfortable, relaxing and has lovely views over West Park. To stay here is also a lovely experience and ladies, they have a Spa!
Can you give 3 words which describe the best things about Jersey for you?
Beautiful, Unique, Safe
We aim to make Vibrant Jersey a community based website by involving local people in the promotion of our island. What do you think about the Vibrant Jersey website and what additions do you think we should make?
Jersey is one of a kind for its beauty and unique treasures. I think this is a wonderful way to promote Jersey and lift it Jersey up to be seen to its loyal tourists and new ones to be, who are yet to discover this beautiful Island and all it has to offer and there is certainly something to do for all ages, interests and hobbies. You won’t need to leave your favourite hobby behind at home because Jersey will offer all you need to enjoy.
I have been very fortunate to have grown up on Jersey every summer on the beaches, horse riding, water skiing etc, and on Green Island beach there is a seat in stone where I used to sit when I was six and seven years old which will never erode away, and I still go back and sit there sometimes. It brings back fond memories.
In the 80’s tourism was huge. With chains of fancy goods shops and couples returning year after year even to stay in the same hotel and the same room even to this day.
Jersey was known to many as being the honeymoon Island.
Jersey has also had its time of fame with the series of Bergerac being filmed in Jersey in the 80’s with some great story lines, and scenery shot over the coasts and in the St Aubin area including the Old Court House.
I feel it is wonderful to see different cultures here in Jersey who have shared their culture through festivals, stalls, produce and music.
There is so much Jersey has to offer, and I feel Vibrant Jersey is a captivating, colourful way to discover the “Jersey Pearl” it truly is…
