Light a candle for a loved one. Join us for a special evening on Saturday 18 May 2024 as we illuminate St Brelade’s Bay Beach with candles in memory of our loved ones.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join with friends, family, and as a community, to reflect, celebrate, and remember the people we love who are no longer with us.
This special event offers a real moment of reflection and a chance to come together as a community in shared remembrance.
Emily Churchill, Spiritual Care Lead at Jersey Hospice Care said, “It’s a wonderful opportunity to join with friends, family, and as a community, to reflect, celebrate, and remember the people we love who are no longer with us. Events such as this enable people to grieve in an open way and connect with others.”
Candles on the Beach was launched in 2023 with the first event attracting around 300 people.
Scott Douglas, Events Manager for Jersey Hospice Care said, “Last year it was really touching to see so many people coming together for the same reason – to honour a loved one. This year, attendees will have the opportunity to light a candle and place it in a circle on the beach to symbolise hope, love, and the enduring legacy of those we hold dear. It’s a really beautiful and poignant moment.”
The event is open to all, not just those who have benefitted from the services of Jersey Hospice Care. Those wanting to attend are encouraged to book in advance and to make a donation for their candle. The event will start at 19:45, with live music, special readings, and reflective time, before finishing at 22:00.
