I attended art college at the North East Wales Institute aka Glyndwr University during the Punk era. A memorable time because of the music, clothes, attitude and images. I use the term Artography to describe how I use photography and mixed media to create. My art is priced so that locals and visitors can afford to buy it and hopefully the series will expand to cover as much of the island as possible.
Jersey is a fascinating place to live and make my artwork. I have been exploring ways to transform traditional Jersey monuments, buildings and features that we see and pass every day not thinking about or maybe visiting once a year, into modern day icons so that they can reappear today as part of contemporary living – in vivid colour, bold images with impact and maybe attracting a younger audience, a school following, as well engaging with those involved in safeguarding our heritage.
My work is a process incorporating photography, painting, software and collage to get the image I want. This has resulted in a hundred original prints that are part of my ‘Jersey Icons series.’ I show the series in places that the public go and of course visitors to the island, that means shops, restaurants, pop-up gallery at markets, the museum & local galleries, events and fairs and I’m always on the look-out for unusual places to hang pictures of this amazing island.
